It's a wild world out there
From St. Louis to the Pacific and back, the expedition recorded 178 plants and 122 animals previously unknown to science. Two of the more breathtaking, if not dangerous species they came across numerous times was the Bison and the Grizzly Bear.
Directions: Title a new section of your paper "Wildlife". Then, use the resources below answer the following questions:
- 1. How many times did the expedition encounter bison herds throughout their journey?
- 2. How many times did the expedition encounter grizzly bears throughout their journey?
- Journal Entry: Close your eyes and imagine that you are seeing a herd of 3,000 bison that are stampeding toward you, or that a 500 pound Grizzly Bear has you in its sights, and is barreling in your direction, drooling and ready to hunt you down for a snack. What would you be feeling? Would you want to go back? How would you handle it?
